Rhodes is a vibrant inner west suburb, located in the City of Canada Bay. Just 16 kilometres west of Sydney’s CBD this unique peninsula suburb overlooks Parramatta River, situated between Bray Bay and the parks and waters of Homebush Bay. A former industrial area, Rhodes is a living example of positive and sustainable residential development.
Getting there and getting around
Rhodes railway station is on the Main Northern Line, about a 30 minute trip from Sydney CBD. The area is serviced by Sydney Buses (M41, 458, 459, 533) and Sydney Ferries (closest stop is Meadowbank).
The area has a number of both dedicated and shared cycle ways. These include a path along the Homebush Bay foreshore, and cycle ways to both Silverwater Bridge and John Whitton Bridge, as well as along the Cooks River to Botany Bay.
Lifestyle and population
Rhodes is very close to a number of major recreation centres including ANZ Stadium, Olympic Park, Bicentennial Park, Millenium Parklands and Sydney International Aquatic Centre. Other local park and playground areas include Brays Bay Reserve, King George V Park and the Rhodes Park Playground.
With a population of around 5,600 people Rhodes is a vibrant and diverse suburb. Residents come from a range of cultural backgrounds, with just under a quarter being born in Australia and a large percentage coming from China and Korea.
