Homebush is a suburb in the inner west of Sydney, located 15 kilometres west of the CBD. It is situated in the municipality of Strathfield and is south of Homebush Bay, which is an inlet of the Parramatta River.
Getting there and getting around
Homebush Station is on both the South line and the Inner West line of the CityRail network. There is a bus (408) that also connects with Homebush Station. The area is also well serviced by Parramatta Road and the M4 Western Motorway.
Homebush, as part of Strathfield, is well known for its extensive cycle and walking path network. In particular is the Bay to Bay Cycleway that runs from Botany Bay to Settlers Park in Ryde. This walk takes about 90 minutes.
Lifestyle and population
Homebush has a diverse population, with 29% of its 12,500 residents identifying as Australian, 13% Chinese, 12% Indian and 6% Korean. It is an interesting area in that it dates back quite a way, with some residences from the early 1900s, but is also slated as an area for much growth and development in the near future.
